Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.2/100, a mean average of 67.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.0.

My first real deep listen to the stuff of Bring Me The Horizon and my expectations were kind of underwhelmed. This album seems to me like a very loveless compilation of badly written and mixed songs. There is no distinguishable sound at all, it sounds like a big teaser saying „You have to hear these songs live to experience us!“. The lyrics are bland and very lazy executed. Some glimpses of light on the middle of the record but viewing the whole it just doesn‘t fit at all together and falls apart real quick.
The album was good I will admit to that but the older heavier stuff is better. But fake fans claim "That's The Spirit and Sempiternal are the only album they released"
This was the first Bring Me The Horizon record I had heard. And probably the last.
One of the biggest problems of the album are the lyrics. Cringe-worthy at best.
I kinda like the atmospherical tones of some songs, like Doomed or Drown.
And I kind of get why people call them a Linkin Park ripoff. I don't fully agree.
I don't think this album is terrible. I think it's a mess. And I probably won't be hearing much of them, either.
True Friends sucks.
I was a fan of BMTH's deathcore stuff back in the dark days of my high school scene phase and didn't particularly like their new direction after their debut. With that being said, this is a decent record. I haven't heard anybody refer to it as "the most important rock album of the decade," nor do I agree with that by any stretch of the imagination, but it's still a really fun listen. I'll probably get skewered for this, but it kind of reminds me of the sound on The Shape of Punk to Come. Just really great production and a nice mixture of electronic and organic sounds.
I completely get why this is lauded. After Sempiternal, which is an actual 0/100 for me, this came through with lyrics that weren't so "i'm an edgy teenager with a voice". Lyrically, it's still not great, but it is bearable.
Side note: My gosh, that production is fantastic
This is the first time I've heard of these guys and this is the first album I've heard from this "metal" band. Let me just say that I don't hate this album and there are some killer moments on here - the production is grand and bombastic and is easily the best thing about this album. As for metal bands going for pop appeal, I've heard far worse. So I wouldn't be that mad if I saw a few scene kids who were into this.
However, what I don't get is that why is it so lauded?! Don't get me wrong, it's a decent album for what it is, but the second best reviewed album of 2015 on Metacritc? That's higher than most of our top 20. Like what the fuck?!
I'm not a hater, but I don't think it's "the most important rock album of the decade." according to this RockSound critic.
These Lyrics are worse than Nickelbacks.
Nice blend of music and a good that direction BMTH have taken. This album has high points but it does not flow so well and 'Oh No' is NOT an album closer, and frankly, I'm not sure it fits on the album. Highlights would be 'Doomed' and 'Avalanche'.
