Taken out of context it's pretty good. When I don't think of it as an "80s record" it seems pretty appealing.
I guess it's one of the best pop album of the 80's....9 flawless songs..that's all
Only: Hungry Like The Wolf :(
Ok not exactly the most compelling lyrics ever. But still. Great pop album.
I was never a 'Durany' but this is actually a pretty good album with some really memorable tracks on it. I particularly like 'Save a Prayer'.
Rio, Hungry Like The Wolf and Hold Back The Rain were all good songs
When I grew up you had to make a choice. Either you wore your hair long and churned out Iron Maiden, Kiss and AC/DC. Or you saved one thin strand of long hair on your otherwise shortcut head, and listened to Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. No matter which camp you were in you had to hate the other camp, without ever listening to their music of course. Not until four years ago at a Hard Rock Cafe in Hong Kong did I realize that this wasn't all that bad. Hungry Like the Wolf is a great track, and a couple of others hold up well. The record fades toward the end, but it's still a strong one that has aged well.
