Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.1/100, a mean average of 72.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.4.

Much better than I remember it from my first listen. Definitely a big improvement from their previous release, Presence, which I really couldn't get into. Clearly not of the standard of their 1969-1975 albums but definitely a worthy part of their discography. Liked the introduction of keyboards to their music, can't remember them being as prominent in other albums. My favourites are In the Evening and All My Love. Carouselambra is good but way too long.
The drumming!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 RIP Bonzo.
fave tracks - In the Evening, Carouselambra, Fool in the Rain
This is a very weak Zeppelin album. It takes away all the passion and hunger on their earlier records and replace it with slower more dull moments. For example, Carouselambra is all build up and no payoff and feels like a nothing song and that is a quarter of the record in itself. The rest follows a similar pattern and by the end you are bored by the repetition of every song. Sonically, it just feels so bare as well and like there isn't much going on in terms of sound so there isn't a lot to explore on multiple listens either. There isn't one song on here that is better than decent and that includes the singles. There are a couple of good choruses that give you brief enjoyment on here though and when the drumming is utilised it is great. Overall, the group seem to have lost their spark on here and feel like they are struggling to create new ideas and so we are left with this record.
It is still a LED Zep album!
I will die defending Hot Dog.
When this album came out, I was in high school and was a big Zeppelin fan. The anticipation that had built up waiting for it's release was HUGE. So too, was the disappointment on first listen. And it didn't help that the radio stations played 'All of My Love' over and over ad nauseum. Zep had become a pop music band that summer. Bummer.
I put 'In Through the Out Door' away and forgot about it...until recently.
Now that I listen with fresh ears, I don't know what we were thinking back then. Either I was young and foolish, or maybe it was just inferior to all the fantastic music we were spoiled with in those golden days of rock. A fun and rocking listen in its own right and miles above the drivel that passes for music today. This is a GREAT album!
Very good, just a few weak spots. Carouselambra goes nowhere at all, and its ten minutes long
Menos Led de todos os álbuns, mas ainda ótimo. Bem criativo, talvez um dos mais.
First Zeppelin album I ever listened to. My aunt had the record and it was their only album she owned. I understand why people rank it lower because it is so different from their usual output, but I think its really good. Love the piano driven songs South Bound Saurez and Hot Dog.
