Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. This release had more input from other members of the band (other than Tedeschi and Trucks). Mike Mattison sings lead on 2 or 3 songs. Kofi Burbridge contributes more flute. With this release, Tedeschi Trucks Band continues to move more toward progressive rock. There's soul here too. Lots of horns, plus the flute. It's a really good album, but I wish they'd play more blues. Artists have to do what they're compelled to do.

This might be their best so far. Really opened up for the trumpets, Derek Trucks' heavenly guitar play is less prominent with respect to their previous albums, but still present when it needs to.
