Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.8/100, a mean average of 69.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.3.

Great album! Rating (81.50)
The descent begun with Eliminator is completed and ZZ bottomed out here with slick and cheesy faux rock.
ZZ Top at the top of their carreer with an energetic sound and top hits like "Sleeping Bag" and "Velcro Fly". The recording sounds heavier than the "Eliminator" album with more blues.
Eliminator v2...but not as good. Rough Boy just doesn't sound right.
Even more contemporary than, eliminator, although they're not messing with the formula too much. Overall, the quality isn't as good as it's predecessor, but, sleeping bag, and, rough boy, are decent modern sounding pop/rock. Completely forgettable, but fun.
Romanelli has it bang on.
Yes, their blues rock watered down into synth rock on Afterburner and there's no great pop song like "legs" or "sharp dressed man", but most of these songs are tight pop songs. The suggestive "sleeping bag" is probably my fav here.
Mid 80's ZZ Top was all about beards, cars, looking like a hobo and squeaky clean generic pop rock. Well done and forgettable.
I am a ZZ Top fan but I didn't overall like the more pop direction they went to during this phase.
ZZ Top still had it on this their last great album. They moved over to a poppier sound, sacrificing some of the deep blues, but it works. Best track: Sleeping Bag.
