Puncture Repair 4 days agoSounded pretty impressive, but passed over me - not really my jam. But I can see why other people would dig it.
gtrodaLike many I first heard Metallica when the black album became popular and then worked backward through their earlier catalog. Master of Puppets is clearly the high water mark of their earlier albums. For Master of Puppets they took everything that makes Ride the Lightning great and cranked it up a notch. The title track and Welcome Home (Sanitarium) are classics.
JManThe first half is great, but the second gave me a headache.

Jasonconfused 11/15/2012 22:10The first full length album I EVER heard! It isn't Metallica's best selling album, but it's probably their best. They were still doing the thrash but it wasn't as raw as Kill Em' All. The production on this album is excellent and also this is Cliff Burton's last work with Metallica (RIP).

Master Of Puppets find the band in the peak of their quality (Master Of Puppets/Ride The Lightning era) and with their greatest line-up ever. You absolutely can't deny the power of the title track, the greatness of Welcome Home and the fact that there's no voice in Orion, but the instrumental is so damn good that you don't it. A masterpiece.
