Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 66.6/100, a mean average of 65.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.8.

Unfortunately this album is just far too long to listen to frequently with tons of filler. But there are still nice songs here like No Son of Mine and Fading Lights that prove Genesis was still a good band after 25 years of making music!
I am one of a few who enjoys the later Genesis as much as the earlier Genesis. I really like this album, it has quite a typical eighties feel about it. The opening track has a very simple sequencedsynth bass line which was a foundation for many eighties bands, so you can't blame the boys for embracing the modern era.
I have two Gensis albums - this one and Selling England By The Pound. One is interesting with some cracking songs and one is disappointing pop tunes that fail to stand out
Very much the pop side of Collins and Genesis. But that's okay. Some of the tracks are the group's finest, especially the final song on the album, "Fading Lights." Perfect title too. The bright lights of the life of Genesis more or less faded after this excellent album.
The only real stand out is No Son Of Mine which is as good as anything they've done before. There are some very good moments elsewhere but compared to previous releases it's not in the same league as those. They sound a bit tired on this record and going through the motions, even the longer tracks don't blow me away.
A fitting final album for the Phil Collins-led era. Unsurprisingly there heavy doses of easy-listening pop (Hold On My Heart, Never a Time, Since I Lost You), and those are all fine and dandy, but the more musically fleshed-out and emotional pieces are what stand out. Tracks like No Son of Mine, Driving the Last Spike and Fading Lights are more-than-welcome additions to the Genesis repertoire. Like many of the pop-driven albums, We Can't Dance is uneven, and the hits often overshadow the juicier meat of the record, but there's some really solid stuff in here if you're willing to look for it. This was a good time for the Phil Collins-led three-piece trio to call it quits, finishing on this solid album.
Completely bland and inoffensive, I forgot I was listening to the album as I was listening to it. The first three songs start out fine but every other song is just, meeeeehhh.
I am a fan of Phil Collins and Genesis 80s stuff but think they shh the bed here between the halfhearted daddy/son issues of no son of mine and the wtf moment of I Can’t Dance it was time for a permanent vacation.
There is not a bad song in this album, I enjoyed it from begining to end. It gets a bit long though, but compared to other 80s Genesis albums it is awesome. 7.4/10.
A much better record than I expected. We can't dance, the final Genesis album to feature Phil Collins, is actually not bad. No son of mine, is an excellent first single, and the title track is a nice little bluesy number, quite unlike anything the band have done before. Jesus he knows me, is another strong cut, but like most latter day Genesis albums, the lines between a Phil Collins solo record and a Genesis LP are getting extremely blurry. Still, a good album, but it's clear that the band has probably run it's course.
