Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.3/100, a mean average of 71.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

As the years go by, James Blake becomes ever more the balladeer and I’m not mad at him for doing so. What’s brilliant about this album is that it comes after his being courted by the likes of Beyoncé and Kanye West, and there’s not a hint of the usual hubris that comes after an artist goes straight to first class.
Best track: Waves Know Shores. I’ve always liked his voice, but here it’s absolutely beautiful. Enjoying the reverb too.
It's a great record. Very in character for James Blake and his somber, reflective techno sounds as good as ever on here.
Its overwhelming length represents a diluted vision and this record is unfortunately a bit of a mixed bag. There are shining visionary moments here ; if only the filler was cut out.
It's subtle and brooding melancholy record that is a slow burner throughout seriously underrated and requires multiple listens and the right mood to really appreciate its textures and beauty it demand's to be listened in its entirety or not at all
The singles are great, the rest is a big blob of whatever. Was disappointed since I love his stuff so much.
A very good album that really should have been a bit shorter. It goes great guns until the god-awful track with Justin Vernon on it, after which it becomes rather inconsistent.
Not as great as his previous two LPs, probably due to the overlong runtime, but still has many moments of brilliance and all the otherworldly production & haunting vocals that we've come to expect from Blake. I just wish he cut out some of the filler.
Didn't think he broke any new ground on this record but he certainly solidified and improved his sound.
PHENOMENAL. Great album, builds more upon his Debut record rather than 2013's "Overgrown", and that was certainly the best move. My favorite release of this year thus far, hands down! As of May 7th.
HIS BEST 10/10
