Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.0/100, a mean average of 73.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 21.6.

Most view Heart's music production accumulated in the decade represented by this disc as an anathema - seeing the Diane Warren, Bernie Taupin and Mutt Lange penned ballads as "Sell Outs" to stuff the greed-driven Wilson Sisters' pockets. Those fans still wanted the 70s sisters who tried to out Zep Zeppelin. But if one has a more open-minded perspective, s/he would realize that the Heart of the decade preceding this portion of Heart's career had its share of ballads, too. No - the casting of the grey cloud of sell out balladeers is casting unfounded aspersions on the 85-95 Heart. Closer to the truth is that the Wilson Sisters still rocked out in this decade as well - witness "Never", "If Looks Could Kill", "Tall, Dark Handsome Stranger", and "Black On Black II" all featured here. And the ballads which the sisters did perform during this decade captured the maturing siblings growth and development as sophisticated, classy women. Sure, maybe the sisters gave back the balls to Led Zep for the duration of their careers, but they still achieved greatness without them.

Some of the very finest rock ballads by Heart between 1985-95.
