Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.9/100, a mean average of 79.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.3.

Quite a good Jazz-Fusion album. Rough at times, gritty at times, beautiful at times. Just amazing.

Progressive, virtuoso album full of passion, fire, and grace. This album is a genuine fusion benchmark.

An orgasm for the ears. This instrumental beauty is relentless. A true sonic marvel. John McLaughlin is from another planet a truly magnificent guitar wizard. Jazz Fusion masterpiece. The keys and guitar mesh seamlessly to create such a lush soundscape rooted by some excellent drumming.

In this record The Mahavishnu Orchestra flutuates between nice melodic phrases and virtuoso showoff. For a musician, you can spot all of their musical tricks after a few listens and that's a boring cause there's not much more left than that.
Unlike Zappa, McLaughlin and Goodman are way to excited to tell stories within the solos even though they have good melodic moments together. They spent most of the time just shredding scales without any purpose.

Overall, you can hear their egos battling for the lead part.

The most important record for jazz/rock fusion. A lot of rocker people started to listen to jazz music after being fan of this band.

Insanely frenetic. I sometimes prefer their less bombastic, orchestral albums but if you want to piss off your neighbors, open your windows & blare this.
