Everyone talks about the vocals, which are amazing, but she's underrated as a pop songwriter. She's really good at selling you an emotion, a feeling. Her best songs really find a good central message/idea and build good verses to really sell you on it. The songs actually have a good sense of progression. It's emotional stuff that doesn't need to be deep if you're really feeling it halfway through your first listen. And you combine that with her skills as a singer(she has a great amount of nuance, at least on her best songs) and you've got some real strong music.
The first artist I really had a passion for. Bland at worst, a powerhouse at best. The highest quality of surface-level pop
Just another Avril Lavigne wannabe, but without Lavigne's talent. Listenable, but nothing special musically. She has a good voice though, that's undeniable, and is one of the best talents to come out of shows like American Idol or the X Factor.
But my advice is to just listen to Avril Lavigne and Taylor Swift instead. They rock this girl-pop-rock genre.
You might not like this type of music, but you can't deny that incredible vocal talent! I like when she does soul and big band the best.

Decent enough pop rock. More listenable than most of the other crap that American Idol created. But 'best singer in the world?' Good lord... no. She's a solid pop singer - nothing more.
Fairly good pop rock, was pleasantly surprised by the quality of her music considering the slop American Idol normally pours out.
