junodog4I know some love to slam these guys as drug-addled, second-rate Soundgarden wannabes. That's a little unfair. They had biting lyrics, grooving rhythm and catchy melodies. At their peak, they sounded like the love child of Soundgarden and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Core and Purple are absolute classics, and Tiny Music is decent. After that, sadly, the drugs did take their toll and their output suffered.
They had so much potential, each of the first 3 records improved, IMO. Tiny music wasn't received well, however I feel it to be their best, most unique, psycedelic masterpiece in its entirity. Since then is a whole other story.
