Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 75.0/100, a mean average of 74.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.9/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 21.7.

Primus unequivocally sucks.
Not really my cup of tea, but Claypool deserves kudos for his extraordinary bass playing and the other two are both high calibre musicians. Their sound draws heavily from latter King Crimson (IMO especially "Discipline" and to a lesser extent "Larks' Tongues in Aspic").
Typical Californian band... Pretty much on the immature, artificial and overly goofy side of the spectrum. Their albums art and music videos were great, though....
Too bad Les Clatpool doesn't sing as well as he plays bass.
Primus fucking sucks.
Primus sucks
I've seen them live 3 times and it was always a joy. Every album is a winner. Can't go wrong there.
One of the most unique bands in history. Not always my favorite but respect at the highest level for them. Pork Soda especially was truly great.
Primus definitely should be rated higher than they are. I haven't heard anything bad from them yet. Their music is some of the most unique music ever made. Les is the bass god, Ler is great guitarist too, adding a psychedelic vibe, and Herb is a great drummer too. Their live shows are beyond amazing too! Totally underrated on this page. Frizzle Fry is my favorite album by them. Primus Sucks!
Pork Soda and Frizzle Fry (3/5) are extremely unique albums. I've listened to a few albums outside those classics, like Sailing the Seas of Cheese (2.5/5) and (gulp) Suck on This (1.5/5) and Anti-Pop (1/5)
I really don't want to dive into their newer stuff. It seems bad. But I do admit, their first few albums that I have heard, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Frizzle Fry and Pork Soda are three albums any fan should own. I own Frizzle Fry and Pork Soda.
I'll only rate obviously based on what i've heard.
