Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 12% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 77.4/100, a mean average of 76.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.6/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.5.

Really? I didn't know those kinds of movies had songs like Archives of Pain, or Ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayit'sworldwouldfallapart... I must hve missed those movies.
You're entitled to your opion of course, but at least have some kind of basic knowledge of the thing you're slagging off.
Great live performance!
Brilliant band, especially "The Holy Bible" which just might be one of the darkest albums of all time.

You never quite know what you will get with the Manics, but when they are good, they are real good. Everything must go and Tell me your truth....... are personal favourites.
I like the Manic Street Preachers... but I'd understand if someone didn't. They can get preachy, and their albums haven't been of consistent quality. Their 92-98 output is top notch. Searing guitars, underrated melodies, and biting lyrics. They can be guilty of reaching too much, but I'd rather them do that then write mindless fluff. After This is my Truth, however, they lost the ability of songcraft - inconsistent albums lacking remarkable tracks. One exception - Journal for Plague Lovers shocked the hell out of me. I had given up on the Manics, and this albums hits as hard as their Richey Edwards era.

I enjoy this band a fair amount, although I must admit they can grow tiresome after extended listens. That being said, Motorcycle Emptiness is one of my 10-20 favorite songs of all time and I must show love for that.
Tell me which groups you like then, Norman Bates
