R.E.M. are a band who will go down in history as a classic band. For the last 30-40 years they have been steadily pumping their own brand of music. Personally I think they are a band who have done some great albums but would never go down as one of my favourite artists.
If i'm not mistaken Out Of Time is the best selling.
sethmadsen 03/30/2013 04:27I love this band they just reach me on a level most bands can't. Their entire discography is worth listening to. Sure maybe an album or two has a less than perfect song, but less so than most other discographies I have had the chance to listen to.
An extraordinary band. They leave behind a splendid discography. It's sad to think there won't be any more new album.

What needs to be said? They're probably the best and most definitive alt rock band.
