meccalecca 03/13/2013 22:57One of the few bands I've ever heard where there's not a single song I would toss away. As much as I love the Beatles, they had their fair share of filler (that's what happens when you give Ringo songs).

Great band that re-invented rock music in the Eightees. Also, a great live band - i saw them at their peak in the Nineties at both Brixton Academy and Crystal Palace and they were awesome. Doolittle and Bossanova the picks for me.
junodog4Did these guys really come out of the 80s? Guitar driven rock with a cutting edge. Strident lyrics, crisp melodies, strong riffs and a really funky side to them. So creative. The Pixies set the table for the 90s grunge movement, but they're a brilliant band in their own right. Awesome stuff.
A really unique band with at least two great albums.
I vote best band of the late 80s. Doolittle is a superb album and Surfer Rosa, Bossanova, and Trompe Le Monde are not far behind. So much talent in this band! If you haven't already you should check out The Breeders as well. Kim Deal formed The Breeders after leaving the Pixies. This band put out so much good material. You will find nothing bad from this band. Come On Pilgrim is the weakest link but it's still pretty damn good. Every other album is incredible.
