They've had a crazy amount of influence, but I really don't like their music. Robert Plant's voice is annoying, and their lyrics are just terrible. The instrumentation is impressive, too, but I just can't listen to them.

Did you know that whilst working as a session guitarist in the 60s, Jimmy had a pet goat called Airship, he would take it on a leash to various recording studios. This is how the band got their name. If you listen carefully you can hear Airship bleating on a number of Yardbird tracks, he's the one that sounds a bit like Eric Clapton.

Did you know that Ken Dodd wrote the lyric for Kashmere? It was originally going to be a stage song for the Diddymen, but Plant auditioned for the show and persuaded, with a clothes mangle, Ken to let him have it for the band.

They can get a bit boring and they do have some pretty mediocre albums, but in their prime... My favorite and most important hard rock band ever.

Although sometimes I get tired of the same old 12-bar-blues they like to reproduce for many songs, the instrumentation is so good. Each member of this band is a master of whichever instrument he plays. It's very impressive.
On a different note, does anyone find it funny that they have 6 albums in the top 120, and then their 7th best album isn't even in the top 1,000?

They have brilliant, consistent albums and cover a wide range of musical genres. They have hard rock, folk, blues, country, psychedelic and even some progressive stuff.
I'd give them 100 points if it wasn't for the plagarism on some of their songs such as Dazed And Confused and Whole Lotta Love.

Not a terrible band, but I don't have much interest in them anymore. Robert Plant is an extremely obnoxious vocalist, and the music is nice, but stale & a bit too flaccid for my taste. Really, I can't see myself going back to Led Zeppelin when bands such as The Stooges & The Velvet Underground were better by an unbelievable degree.

Brilliant musicians, consistently strong albums, and a phenomenal live act (when they didn't screw up). One of my favourites growing up, they lose points for their shameless (if somewhat overstated) plagiarism that dogs their early albums.

Huge under every point of view, one of the greatest and more influencial band ever.
