Greatest Blues cover band of all time, because their hard electrified take on it became something of their own. Too bad they stole riffs instead of just covering them. Am I insinuating that Led Zeppelin was worse than the Stones in that respect?? YES. The Stones probably did steal quite a lot but they usually gave blues musicians credit when due. The only major Led Zeppelin song with a blues man credit is You Shook Me, what a load of shi*
A band who have written many great songs, but I do think a lot of their albums have too much filler on it. Personal favourite is Houses of the Holy, especially No Quarter and Rain Song.
God knows I tried for many years to like this band, and I actually do like a couple of songs, but given how little I gained compared to the time I spent with them, I should hate this band. I don't, but I find precious little to enjoy in their music. Their so-called theft of other blues greats isn't even a big deal to me, I just think they are emptier than most bands.
Possibly the best band of all times
Talented collection of musicians. Zeppelin knew how to steal old blues riffs and sound bigger and louder than anyone else. But they're quite a bit overrated.
No, really. That's how I feel about them. I'm a very calm guy most of the time, and I took time to think about that comment before I posted it. That's how I feel about Led Zeppelin.
I know that comment back then was a little long, but I was giving good reasons, wasn't I?
They weren't too shabby.
JMan, you're over-reacting. Take some rest, enjoy the view, get some sense. Relax.
Led Zeppelin is no doubt the greatest band ever.
A. They had no songs that sucked until they released their sixth album, for one thing.
B. They have the legendary composer Jimmy Page; Robert Plant, one of the most powerful blues/rock voices that's also good in many other genres from his other bands; Jones, a man who has done full orchestral arrangements; and Bonham, ranked by many the greatest drummer who ever lived.
C. They also have "Stairway to Heaven," which is the highest selling music sheet song for young guitarists. 15,000 sheets sold a year.
D. I've heard at least 15-20 of their songs on 1 radio station alone played multiple times in a week or two. I've never heard as many Beatles or Pink Floyd songs on the radio.
E. They've influenced some of the greatest bands of the 70's through today.
F. Led Zep IV is the essential album for starting a classic album collection.
G. There musical styles span from Arabic (Kashmir) to strange music (Misty Mountain Hop) to blues (Dazed and Confused, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You) to Metal (Rock and Roll) to the soft and heavy tune of Stairway to Heaven.
H. From what I've heard, they've had five perfect albums and great albums after that.
I. Their nickname is the NO. 1 SUPERGROUP. Not the Beatles, obviously.
I don't care what any die-hard super-obsessed Beatles fan says, and I never will. Zep is definitely the best.
Lep Zep Rules!
