When the word "hero" is applied to a musician, it is nearly always hyperbolic and calls for a salt shaker or two.
This is the other usage-- literal heroes, and worthy musicians as well. You bet it is a favorite; we need to be reminded that it isn't always light entertainment we're indulging in.
