In terms of vocal techniques and skills, Adam Lambert is in its own league nowadays, above everyone else. Being gay and an American Idol alum makes it hard for him to earn respect, but he has the full package to do what he wants to do musically. As of now he released three pleasuring pop rock records.
He names Prince, Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant, Sam Cooke, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Queen and Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Aerosmith, Placebo, Tears for Fears, Ben Harper and Boy George as influences. Being a high-skilled vocalist you can hear all of these influences in his music, many of them are, of course, theatrical.
Being a limited mainstream pop artist he still lacks the ability to figure out what suits him best and, let's be honest, he doesn't have full control over his ideas and visions as a musician which makes it hard for him to release a record which more critical people would appreciate.
This guy is definitely not your average mainstream pop artist who sells five million albums per year with petty, fabricated tunes, but a gifted and underrated singer who is often overlooked because of his background and origins.
I don't like his last album at all, but he still deserves a 100 because of his talent. His voice is amazing like Mercury amazing, I can't help but feel he is wasting his talent doing an album like the original high. Hopefully, the next album will be one of the greatest rock vocals since 1991.
