I love Frank Zappa so much! Not only as a musician, but as a person and philosopher. The size of his catalogue is intimidating. He wrote rock, jazz, guitar-oriented music, classical, blues, you name it! A very strange person but a very smart one too.

What is often overshadowed by his clever tongue-in-cheek delivery is how brilliant Zappa and the mothers were with their musicianship. He was a real perfectionist... Listen to their parts on their albums. Try to play along. These guys were top notch. Zappa was amazing. RIP, Frank. Right now he's trying to teach Moses, Gandhi and Einstein how to jam.

He could have been a serious musician if he ever grew up. I'm glad in his 52 years he never grew up!

Is it possible to be too clever and witty? I would love to see 'Joes Garage' on Broadway, fcuk Green Day the musical. Zappa IS a legend.

2000 Motels is not even listed among the first 38 albums to make it onto this site. And it was a freakin double album. The guy is beyond prolific. (All those album titles gave him copious opportunity to explore irony in the music business.)

There's so much to explore here in his discography. I doubt I'll be through given even a year's time. Amazing!
