Davies was definitely the coolest songwriter of his generation. One of the few people in rock N roll that had a great sense of humor.
Puncture Repair 03/26/2013 17:24Really don't hear any outstanding talent here, their nostalgic 60s tone seems to be all they really have going for them. None of the memorable tunes The Beatles, Stones or Zombies had, just all very passively enjoyable. Guitar really sounds as those it's been randomly played around a scale.
drakoniumMy favourite band ever, and I'm no NAPLES. Very sad to see Lola, which is not so good, and Muswell Hillbillies, which is "only" great, in front of Face To Face, which is an amazing masterpiece, though.
Shaking hands and exchanging a few words with Ray Davies is up there among the most vivid memories of my life.

The one song in the world that will never fail to put me in a good mood: Waterloo Sunset.

So RFNAPLES, you love the Kinks so much, but you don't think Village Green Preservation Society is one of The Greatest Albums of All Time?? Are you saying that their best albums can't compete "objectively" (whatever that means) with albums that you may personally like less? Not only does that sound crazy, but it also makes me sad :(
