This is one of the better charts. It is, for example, refreshing to see that 'Ok Computer' by Radiohead, one of the most over-rated bands that rank alongside U2 and The Beatles, has not made it to the top of the list.
Despite this, the chart is seriously flawed. I look forward to the day, that charts like this do not include anything from either of the most over-rated bands in the history of rock, the Beatles, and the band that they tried to emulate throughout their entire career, The Beach Boys.
How can it be that two of rock music's greatest innovators, Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart, do not merit a single entry between them?
As is usual with these kinds of lists, there are far too many artists who do not merit inclusion, and many more who deserve to be included that have been strangely omitted or overlooked. Minutemen, Fugazi and Bardo Pond are three of the more recent bands who should have been included at the expense of say Oasis, Verve and Jesus And Marychain.
Meanwhile, the omission of many of the inovators from the late 1960s and early 70s such as Hendrix, Red Krayola, The Deviants and Soft Machine is simply criminal.
But hey, as far as lists go, there are a lot less credible ones out there.
