Leila is totally overlooked, this scandal must be stopped, I'm counting on you. This LP is a mix of futuristic soul/r'n'b, creepy lullabies and sudden outbursts of noisy anger. Dreamy and sublime. It's now angrier, krauter: clever move that makes 'Third' fit its era at least as well as 'Dummy' fitted its. Still unmistakably Portishead, totally different though. Effing geniuses. Rock n' roll with machines retains the savageness of early rock n'roll, vocalist Vega delivers exactly what it takes to make the record deeply deranging. You got things on here that deserves much more praise than they get... things like Isolée, Superpitcher, Grooverider, Console, Kenny Larkin, Jacno (!), Lindstrom or Richard Davis (I should stop now). And lots to discover too, very well done.
