Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 69.2/100, a mean average of 67.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 22.9.

lots of people seem upset that the ordering is very poor, as well as many strange inclusions. However, overall this list is very strong i find it includes many of the best records of the 2000s (even if they are stupidly ordered), and the strange additions are sometimes very pleasant (see Manu Chao). Overall, its actually very good compared to other lists they have made

Reading the comments, I thought this was some immature teenagers chart. And then I realised it was Rolling Stones'. It looks like a weird patchwork of everything that were popular in 2010...

Rolling Stone has to Rolling Stone. Surprised they couldn’t shoehorn more Springsteen and Dylan in the top 30

Bob Dylan at 8th and 11th - I wasn't even aware of these.

Jesus Christ. Some of these choices are plain bizarre. Some thoughts:

-I really like the fact that they included The Marshall Mathers LP and Kala in the top 10, because I really love them and I think they've kind of got lost in the shuffle.

-Lil fucking Wayne? Seriously?

-Look, I liked 50 Cent when I was a teenager, but even then I would have found his placement on this list a bit of a stretch.

-Bruce Springsteen has released some pretty great albums, none of them released during this decade. Same can be said about U2.

-Waaaay too much Kanye. Late registration and The college dropout I can get on board with, but Graduation is where I draw the line.

Pretty boring, no metal or prog, still includes Bob Dylan and a bunch of others that are past their time.
