Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 84.3/100, a mean average of 82.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 14.7.

Appreciate the acknowledgement of your own listening tendencies, and your efforts to rectify them!! Really like some of the modern hidden gems you've got here, am looking forward to seeing this once you take a deeper dive into the 20th century underground!

I love when I find someone with the same musical interests as me. I have tendency to dive more into the 90s,80s, and 70s more than you, but our core taste appears to be similar. Great list.

This list is terrific. Really great blend of newer and older stuff. People forget that these lists are subjective. It's nice to see The Antlers getting some love. They're criminally underrated. Ok, cool. Hook 'Em \m/

I like this chart and appreciate you are only getting round to listen to lots of older stuff and using this site to help direct you. I kinda switched off from music in the 90s and stuck with the older stuff, so I am doing the opposite of you. Stuff like Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Interpol, Muse, The Strokes, The White Stripes - these are all new to me and I'm loving them.
Didn't see Flaming Lips in there - thought you might have been big on them given some of your other choices. Try Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. You might also have missed In The Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel.Only got both in last couple of years and they are great.
Keep trying out the older stuff - if like me it takes a good few listens and probably a few years for the new stuff you listen to to get into your heart and shift some of the stuff you've always known - but it is worth it.
Try from the 70's Neil Young's Harvest. And not convinced it's your cup of tea but do give Ziggy Stardust a listen.
Keep rockin

While I'd personally like to see some more variety simply because based on the tastes you demonstrate there is a lot of older stuff out there you would really like, but at the same time this is a very strong collection of albums, which I appreciate.

I don’t care if your chart is all zeroes, but the lack of variation in genres is really astounding.

Great chart of modern bangers. Illinois is the #1 album since 2000, so for that alone I have to score you well :)

Look forward to seeing this develop if you're working through the top 100 on the site - I expect some older stuff will start filtering in!

Got directed here through your review of Revolver, which I agreed with despite it being an unpopular opinion. Not sure I understand your rating system but looking forward for the finished chart!

It's a very good list of the modern classics. I like Illinois, and the chart that has Tool and Pearl Jam is an instant winner for me. I do find it a bit too common though, everyone has Radiohead as their top artist which is pretty boring for us who don't love them THAT much. But I gotta respect your taste, it's diverse and interesting
