Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by antiloopje
I recently noticed that it had been two full years since I had updated my chart. An update was past due.
This chart is now rather different from the previous version despite me no longer being as invested in discovering new music as I was before. This is partly because my taste in music has shifted quite a bit and partly because I wanted to try something new with the chart. Some old favourites have been dropped from this chart (there's only room for a 100 albums after all). On the other hand, I used to be wary of putting Radiohead and Pink Floyd near the top, but I've now given them the places they deserve i.m.o.
Another update of this chart will likely (hopefully) follow next summer.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 6% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.6/100, a mean average of 89.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.4.

So much great stuff here.
Very nice chart!
Very interesting chart. I'm going to have to check out a few of your selections.
So many great albums here, especially love your top 7 or so. The Blacks Saint is too good!
Lots of albums and our nationality in common: I should check out Camel
@ the krauter:
I've finally listend to a full giraffes? giraffes! album. I must say I'm a bit more nuancated on them now. There were parts I really liked but also other parts. Nevertheless, they're quite good, but would probably fall off this chart.
@ Mies: thanks for the rec. I have it on my to-do list, but I'm a bit behind on it right now.
@ Wild Horses: I wouldn't call myself an expert, especially not for the 70s. There are people out here that know 3x the albums I know. As for Deep Purple: they are quite good but a bit too little 'explorative' for my taste - even though they have some great songs. The same sort of goes for Derek & the Dominoes: that one is too much blues for my taste (again, there are some great songs as well). The third rec, Uncle Acid ... is on my list
Thanks for all the recs, I'll make time to listen this week.
Edit: I listened. Lighning bolt was bit too heavy for my taste (even though there were a few great moments.) Uncle acid & deadbeats was rather good (I enjoyed them).
Greatest chart from a 60's/70's expert, my favorite decades.
Try some Deep Purple (Machine Head), Derek & the Dominos (Eric Clapton band) and more recently Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats (Mind Control specially).
to thekrauter:
LCD soundsystem was very nice. It may land in the lower parts of my chart (not sure yet). As for the Giraffes: great rec! So far I've only listened once though, but I liked it. I'll listen again in the future.
to an outlaw:
not bad, but I don't see why it would beat pure mania
Stunning chart!!!
If you`re looking for more recent music:
My suggestions are: LCD Soundsystem - electro, punk, dance
or... if you like prog/math-rock: the best choice for
antiloopje is without any doupt: Giraffes? Giraffes!
