Abbey Road, the grand finale of The Beatles. This is not a wicked plot twist or anything, this is more a fitting conclusion to one of the best stories ever told. You know The Beatles: they never settle for one mood. There are delightful, dark, mysterious, whimsical, beautiful and sad moments throughtout. However, by the time the final, famous lyric of "The End" appears, knowing these words are the last ever heard from The Beatles (more or less), don't you get just a little teary-eyed?

To think that King Crimson's debut technically was released in the 1960s is almost impossible to believe. It sounds completely isolated from time, space and everything that is even remotely close to our world. The album can only be described one way: epic, epic, epic! For the title-track, it has to be epic times 10, if that can do it. Crazy start for progressive rock (well, one of the starts).

Nature meets 60s psychedelia in perfect harmony. Only two originals, but the whole album is performed in a way that will make you listen to all songs as were they original Gandalf compositions. Tune in with this beautiful dreamy escape right away!

Time has told me that this is one of the most beautiful albums ever recorded, the sound of Nick Drake leading off his way to blue. Some of the most gorgeous string arrangements you'll ever hear!

Dazed and confused and one of the biggest Led Zeppelin classics. Good times, bad times, no matter what times you're going through, you need your share of this legendary debut, though I'm sure it reminds most people of good times!

Indeed a very odysseyan album for Bee Gees. Surprisingly grandiose and ambitious, it isn't far from being a British Opera with Beatlesque melodies often teaming up with a big orchestra.

A great extension to the previous two Procol Harum albums. There are a couple of nice playful tunes here, but even better there is the title-track and probably a few more songs that hit you with its beauty in the same understated yet grand climax-way as "A Whiter Shade of Pale".

A sacred mushroom indeed, but surprisingly not a psychedelic one! Just plain blues rock, but really nice blues rock with a great ditinct guitar sound.

The Beach Boys doing it again. When counting both studio albums and compilations, "20/20" is their twentieth album out of 20, hence the name. It's a mixed bag containing two stellar songs, the a capella "Our Prayer" and the psychedelic "Cabinessence", from the abandoned "Smile" album, but also quite a few inessential, though fairly good tracks. The lush instrumental here, "The Nearest Faraway Place", indeed takes you to the nearest faraway place!

You can't always get what you want, but you can get this album full of classic Stones songs. Following the rootsy route of "Beggars Banquet" with blues and good ol' rock 'n' roll, it should indicate that the Stones would never return to psychedelia land again, especially since it would be the last Stones album to feature the magician Brian Jones. Instead, there are some splendid details here such as the elegant piano intro of "Monkey Man" and the grandiose choir of "You Can't Always Get What You Want".

Well, "The Soft Parade" starts off with two stellar tracks and then gets a bit hit or miss. A couple of the remaing tracks are actually quite underrated, I think, but I definitely agree that it also has its duds. Especially the title-track has to be their least succesful "odyssey"!

Overall, I like it for its moments, which are quite great.

I'm a huge fan of The Doors, but The Soft Parade was really a blunder.
