Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by
ffudnebbuh (2013)
I used to be a buyer for one of the largest record chains in the Midwest and had access to every album that one can imagine. So my chart is a strange collection of genres, well known albums and not so well known, from the highly regarded to the disdained..I went through my soul/r&b phase beginning in 1958(which I am still moving through), Beatles, Stones, etc, Simon/Garfunkel phase, Parliament/Funkadelic etc phase, Sex Pistols, Wire,Joy Division,Talking Heads phase, then Cocteau Twins, JMC, Pixies, MBV phase etc, and now my list is just what I am listening to the most at any moment. My interest in popular music is split between jazz, blues, and r/b on one hand and pop/rock on the other. I have an undergrad degree in classical piano. My chart is based partly on being in record retail for so many years(20) and having heard almost every album made and being bored with most of it...but is also informed from a performer's perspective, how I feel that a given artist is successful in communicating the particular ideas in words, music and arrangement and production regardless of genre.
When I left retail for graduate school in 1994, I became relatively out of touch with the music catalogue. I have been using Pandora more, so I feel that I am now caught up with most of the music from all music genres over the past 15 years.

It was the best job you can imagine. I used to get free concert tickets for any concert. it is like the saying goes;"You will never work a day in your life if you have a job you love."
Very nice! Very very nice!
Very unique chart. And that job you mentioned having seems like such a cool gig. I am jelly.
Absolutely brilliant. A twist on the classics.
Thanks for the generous comments, love your chart as well, some albums I haven't heard and need to check out..Yes the John Abercrombie is a beautiful album, I have enjoyed his music for so many years
Holy shit you added John Abercrombie. I was beginning to think I was the only one here to have even heard of him. This chart is perfect. So many under-appreciated artists getting some well-deserved attention. And some amazing jazz picks
thanks for clarifying that..funny
Haha, I just saw your comment sorry (I would like to put a xD here)
xD is the face of a laughing smiley : the cross is his eyes closed because of the laugh and the D is his open mouth. People use it when something is funny, like the "lol" for example. I often use smileys, I'm a kikoo, sorry about that (and there goes a xD)
Drakonium, what does "xD" mean?
Nice to see the Isley's in a top ten. This chart gets more and more interesting the further you go. Some great jazz choices here.
Hehe, 40 years ago, there wasn't so many genres xD But I see what you mean. On the other hand, it's at the same time much easier today : with Deezer, YouTube, Spotify, the MP3, etc, you can have all the music you want everywhere. I don't really listen to the radio because of that. Everyday, this site shows me so many things I should listen to, I don't even need radio to find new music ^^
