What makes this album so special for me? The answer is pretty hard to describe. The bombastic opener Perth, the breathtaking Holocene, the almost cheerful Towers, the climactic Calgary: every song is simply amazing. The album hypnotizes me every time I listen to it. Once you've heard the first chord, you can't stop listening and after the last chord you need to start all over again. There are so many details to discover, the voice of Justin Vernon is unequalled. So much musicality in a world with so much too commercial, insincere music on the radio. Yes, this must be the greatest album I've ever heard. [First added to this chart: 03/10/2015]

Normally lyrics doesn't matter to me that much, but in the case of The Turn Of A Friendly Card you need to listen to the story being telled. In just ten songs it's like reading a whole book. The absolute highlight: the Snake Eyes snippet in Nothing Left To Lose. Like an angry mother to a child saying 'I've told you so.' Very subtle, but so powerful. Very catching music [First added to this chart: 03/10/2015]

I was visiting a concert of rock band Black Stone Cherry, with this band as the support act. Never heard of them, but although they played only a couple of songs, they totally blew me and my friends away. The Parlor Mob made Black Stone Cherry look like a bunch of amateurs. I immediately bought their debut album and still they make an overpowering impression every time I listen to it. Every fan of rock music need to listen to these guys. Meanwhile I'll keep waiting until they return to Europe [First added to this chart: 03/10/2015]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.7/100, a mean average of 84.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.1.

Very interesting! Never really could get into Bon Iver, maybe I’ll give it another shot. And maybe I should give Frusciante’s solo work a chance.

Unique and interesting chart. You like both prog and folk rock like me so I must give you a good rating. I will keep an eye on it and may improve (or downgrade) the rating. Please add some comments sometime.

I like the chart. It is different and full of undiscovered ones for me. But the most interesting thing about it is the shade of folk genre which shows that you have a good taste in music.
