Top 50 Greatest Music Albums by Crusaderlord Unknown

This list is personal favourites and is not trying to be a greatest album list, although some may qualify. The late seventies and early eighties were my teenage era and my list really reflects this, and I believe the nostalgia and influence of that age plays a huge role in what albums remain personal classics. Over the years i have tried to broadened my taste a little, and I am constantly revamping the lower end of the list.

My first listen as a teenager gave me goosebumps, i loved the new darker synth sound and sci-fi themes and the great album cover which ties in with the track lyrics. (owned on 180g vinyl & cd) [First added to this chart: 03/23/2010]

Music to sit back and absorb, a more relaxing album from the group, bookended by the amazing Shine On You Crazy Diamond, this is my favourite Floyd album. A great cover and included photos too. (owned on sacd) [First added to this chart: 03/23/2010]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 82.6/100, a mean average of 82.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 11.0.

Can't argue with personal favourite lists ~ so I make a couple of observations. Nice to see a few less charted artists like The Beloved. Curious that you have 3 Alanis Morissette albums but exclude 'Jagged Little Pill'. Would be nice to see a full 100 album chart and some broader exploration of albums outside the UK & (especially) south of the Tropic of Cancer.

It's awesome how much you like Gary Numan, OMD and Ultravox. Trick of the Tail is in my top ten as well, nice. I still haven't really listened to Kate Bush much but I should.

This is a solid chart of British 70s/80s electronic, pop and some prog. While it isn't diverse, these are very good choices considering the small pool of albums we seem to be choosing from.

It's actually kind of impressive how dedicated you seem to be to avoiding every other kind of music. Like, every album is english speaking yet barely any are even American, let alone another kind of foreign? This is a man who either really knows what he likes.. or doesn't have a clue. Hahaha.

Regardless, a unique chart. It would be scored higher if it had more diversity, but its an interesting read, clearly authentic, and like I said, good choices for the era, country, and genres that do appear.

As much as I despise Depeche Mode and Duran Duran, I like it that someone has the guts to stand for his favorite artist. Who in this case seems to be Gary Numan.
Brave. Also, including Sparks is always a bright idea.
