Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. I must try to remember to come back and check out the progress of this chart as you complete each year.
I would love to go through this chart sometime and check out the albums I haven't heard because I pretty much really like nearly all the ones I have.

Awesome stuff! Trace so high was the first indicator this was going to be great! Love to see such enthusiasm for minutemen/fIREHOSE and butthole surfers.
Great chart. Great mix. Love a lot of the more obscure albums on it. And any chart with the DK's on it always gets a thumbs up from me.
This chart is fantastic, scud blues like with a hint of peppy rock. I'd like to see how you shift these around, if needed. Also those hip hop picks are stellar
