Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Eclectic. Great selections
I like this chart a lot and see heaps of personality shining through. Especially like seeing the love for Canadian & Australian artists.

Honestly, I haven't liked a lot of people's number 1's on this site but this a respectable number 1. The music speaks for itself and is beautiful.

This chart looks SO different than mine, yet we still share over 10 artists in common. And Demon Days in the freaking 10?!?!!? 100%

Thanks for the positive feedback! We actually have a lot of artists in common, but I don’t notice that from the top 20... oh I see, you also only add one album per artist. Anyway, there’s a lot of exploring to do here for me.
