Top 100 Music Albums of the 2000s by dihansse
When I look back at my favorite albums of this decade I have the impression that this list is filled with artists which had their heyday in the eighties or the nineties who issued albums upto their standards but not with the same genius as their former albums like Wilco, REM, Guided By Voices, Built To Spill, Foo Fighters, etc. The exception is Dinosaur Jr which re-formed with Lou Barlow and issued some albums which are at least as good or even better than their eighties and nineties stuff.
New bands which saved this decade to me were The Strokes, Arcade Fire and Interpol in the more popular Genre and Fucked Up in the Indie scene.

I appreciate the note that you provide at the beginning of this list--it provides good context for the selections you've made. I'm happy to see Okkervil River's Black Sheep Boy and Down the River of Golden Dreams getting love on your chart. I also want to declare myself firmly in the pro-Coldplay camp, as I know they're a much (and in my opinion, undeservedly) maligned band. Glad to see two of their albums in your top ten.
