Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 4% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.3/100, a mean average of 89.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.2.

Interesting chart, if with little that is really out of the box, excluding a few later artists whom I have never heard of. Even Spring Heel Jack’s two albums, Luna, Type O Negative, Future Sound of London and the Pointer Sisters’ forgotten (and underrated) debut are not really that “wild”, but they greatly add to the variety of the chart.
I do agree that compilation albums can be very valuable, although there is always the severe problem of missed album songs, and you never cheat by including the same track twice on different albums.
Cool! Good selection of classic artists, especially personally The Lovin Spoonful, underrated oldies band. Love that you have Chemical Brothers and Aphex Twin. Always meant to check out The Orb. David Bowie's Outside album is great!
Awesome to see some compilations. There are a few bands like Rolling Stones where sometimes the right compilation album can be more enjoyable than any one of their albums in full.
Outside by David Bowie was another pleasant surprise. It's not my favorite Bowie album, but it's definitely an overlooked great album from his career. :)
Could be better, still some interesting choices
Very diverse and interesting chart. Anyone who rates Diamond Dogs by Bowie knows their music. An underrated classic.
Very interesting chart - know most of the artists up to the 80's but even then many of the album choices aren't the main album that features so prominently in other charts. I then know only some of the artists and albums after that - hence why I've not scored your chart yet. I recall The Orb - Fluffy white clouds which was excellent but never got round to them but will look to start catching some of your vibes with them.
Also - big thanks for reminding me of Black Uhuru Chill Out - I forgot that album and that I saw them in the 80's, need to give them a listen.
This is great, some albums I’ll have to check out that I don’t know well
I dig this electronica/70s mix going on here. Great contributions.
I like your new number one. But I won't be listening to all of it. It's so long. I noticed you made quite a few changes. Good to see The Lovin' Spoonful and Bowie's Outside. That is a real head trip - Outside. Good stuff.
Nice blend of old favorites and fresh records to discover!
