In RainbowsRadiohead
My current Radiohead favourite... I got into Radiohead fairly late, and I discovered In Rainbows just as late as their other classic stuff (except I didn't know any of the songs from the album before, while I did know several of the songs from OK Computer, The Bends, even Kid A)
In Rainbows presents the side of the Radiohead, that I would call.. "relaxed"... "Chill". There is nothing as emotionally shattering as No Surprises or Street Spirit here, or as adventurous as The National Anthem or Life in a Glass House. No, this is Radiohead at the point of their life, when they achieved everything they could wish for, and they're just doing what they know best. It's funny how the little things make the album - that background noises by Jonny in House of Cards, the little riff at the end of Reckoner, those kids cheering in 15 Step, ... A fantastic album

You Forgot It In PeopleBroken Social Scene
Well I said that I had a Pink Floyd phase for a time in my life.. Then, after a series of fortunate "occurings" I was turned into the alternative music of the past decade. I'd like to think that this album was one of the keys for that happening. First song I heard was Anthems for a 17-year old girl. It was interesting, but at the time, I wasn't that into it yet... It has processed vocals, a whole lot of repetition going on, but I loved the general sound of it, and I subsequently listened to that song over and over again... Then I downloaded the album (no worries, got the physical copy now), and I found more of what I loved in that song. So many things going on in each song, and yet, the band made it sound so effortless. And then there are those moments, when the atmosphere is being built on the quieter moments and minimalistic instrumentation (such as in Late Nights..., or the first half of Shampoo Suicide). Beautiful.

Yellow HouseGrizzly Bear
I first heard this right after Veckatimest, and as that album was a lot more "approachable", but with a similar sound, I only listened to it for a while, while neglecting Yellow House. Not justified. While less "conventional" (though you can't really call it experimental either), this album has a lot more going for it in terms of the sound in general. For one thing, the drums *sound* fantastic. _Then, it's filled with these long instrumental portions and vocal harmonisations, that eventually build towards a climax of sorts but that more importantly manage to create an incredible atmosphere to it. While I wouldn't call it "scary", it's pretty much what the album cover indicates. There might just be something sinister beyond the surface.

Is This ItThe Strokes
I've seen some comments on this album, as being the one album everyone can relate to (or sth along of those lines)... I can't. At all. Yeah the lyrics are good, but I am not a fan of this album because of this aspect. I am however such a fan, because there aren't many albums which I could replay so often, and still get such a tremendous enjoyment out of it. So many memorable moments, so much fun... There are many albums out there in a similar vein, but this is above the rest, a once in a lifetime album

The Moon & AntarcticaModest Mouse
Just keeps getting better for me.. Can't believe there was a time when I would listen to this with a snobby face, thinking.. "overrated". But there's so much to this album. The wonderful, thoughtful lyrics, the atmosphere, which I would describe with the word "cold" (don't mean anything bad with it)... One of my most listened to albums of the late. With the state that I've been lately, it started to mean a lot to me personally too.

Kid ARadiohead
I wish I were a bit older in 2000, a Radiohead fan, eagerly awaiting their new release, wondering what it will sound like, and then... I think I would eventually start loving it, but that must've been amazing for some of the fans... Oh, and there's one song I'd like to give a special mention to, as I don't think it gets enough love - the title track, Kid A. There's just something incredible to that one, the beat throughout, the distorted/masked vocals, the somber piano (btw go listen some dude's piano cover of this song on youtube, amazingly it does it justice), it's one of my favourite songs ever.

Uh oh, a Coldplay album? So high? Well I can't help it, but I always had a soft spot for this album, it's incredibly relaxing atmosphere and catchy tunes to go along.. Even in my "Pink Floyd phase", this was one of my favourites.

VeckatimestGrizzly Bear
I was so excited listening to this a year ago [edit: has it really been a year since I made this chart and this comment for the first time? I "discovered" this album in winter of 2010/2011], finding new things to like with each re-listen... The vocals (the harmonies!), the whole production, *that* guitar on While You Wait for the Others, they really created a masterpiece with this one.

Cocoon is one of the most moving pieces of music I ever heard. An incredibly beautiful album. An opposite of Homogenic with it's big beats and extroverted nature. This one is like a musical diary . Her most emotional album.

That was also what i thought. That it would be hard to write 50 long comments at the same time. I can only write 2-3 comments per time myself, then I get too distracted :)

No, I don't get it either. Some people point it out as one of Kid A's (the album) flaws!.. At least, we get it :)

And I know that my chart is too heavy on some artists, but it's only temporary, since I'm trying to figure out what albums should be and what albums shouldn't be in my top 100 greatest albums. As it is now, my list doesn't really represent the 100 albums that I like best (still like them though)! Hope you'll come back later when I've made it better.

Great, great 2000's chart. My only complaint would be "In Rainbows" at #1. I've never really got into that one, but hey! That's just my!

I really liked your comments though.. okay, I didn't read them all (since I'm a lazy bastard), but the ones I did read were great. Especially your comments on "Kid A", where I totally agree with you that the title track doesn't get enough love, it's easily in my top 3 from that album. Also "A Rush of Blood to the Head" where you write that you don't care so much about the singles as for some of the other songs. If you want to, you can check out my chart where I've ranked all the songs from that album.

Ha. Ha. I edited the chart comment about a week ago to "On Hiatus". I'll try and do 5 today if I can. And you can talk - Mr. private chart!

Your top woulda been so beautiful if not for....#3....and I only listened to Vespertine a couple of weeks back, I hadn't realised that she had dodne anything of that quality outside the 90's but it was amazing.

Also love your chart comments.
