Top 30 Music Albums of the 1990s by kingdomhearts678 Unknown

What an awesome decade for music the 90s was. In my opinion, right next to the 60s as the best decade music has ever seen. Anyways, here are all my favorites from the 90s, and I'm only human, so if I really great album is on here then either I forgot it, don't like it, or just simply haven't heard it. Enjoy!

Don't even know where to start with this album. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I've never heard anything like it. It's so unique and so brilliant. It is definitely one of those albums that requires a few listens to actually "get it," but once you understand its brilliance it really changes the way you see music. At least it did for me. Really, what hasn't been said about OK Computer? Hell, it's the number one album on this site! Radiohead is my favorite band, and this is easily my favorite album by them. Lyrically and musically it is their best album. Excluding "Flitter Happier" there is not a weak link on this album. One of the few albums that after hundreds of listens, still evokes the same emotion from me that it did upon my first listen [First added to this chart: 06/17/2012]

Arguably the greatest indie album ever made. The title track and "Holland, 1945" are worth the price of admission alone. From start to finish this album takes you on an amazing adventure, filled with odd instrumentation, interesting lyrics, and dozens of Anne Frank references. This was one of the first indie albums that I ever heard and it instantly showed me how great this genre truly is. [First added to this chart: 06/17/2012]

SUCH a step up from Pablo Honey, this is one of the two masterpieces Radiohead dropped in the 90s. While it lacks the emotion of OK Computer, it does make up for it with its heavy sound. "Just" and "My Iron Lung" are two of the hardest rocking songs Radiohead has ever made. This is my favorite album from 95 which is crazy because so many good albums came out that year. Oh, Definitely Maybe. Now this is how you make a debut. I remember first listening to this album and just being completely blown away. This album has some of the most innovative brit pop songs of all time. There is literally not one bad song on here. It is one of the few albums you can put on and listen to from start to finish without having to skip one song. I know everyone says "What's The Story Morning Glory" is the superior album, but they're all wrong, this is where Oasis' star definitely shines brightest, no maybe about it. Another great debut album, and another great indie album. This album is so strange. In the same vein as The Sex Pistols, it's one of those albums where you have to wonder if the band even knows how to play their instruments correctly. When I first listened to it, I was not impressed and labeled it as noise. But after giving it a chance, I realized just how genius this album really is. The distorted guitars, yelling, and odd lyrics are what truly make this album great. [First added to this chart: 06/17/2012]

Another great indie band from the 90s. Belle & Sebastian made some really great albums during the 90s, but none was better than "If You're Feeling Sinister." Lyrically, this is one of the great albums ever made. When I first heard it I actually went on google and looked up all the lyrics and just sat there and read them like poems. All the songs are so brilliantly written, and are backed with brilliant instrumentation. What more could you want from an album? [First added to this chart: 06/17/2012]

We've all heard the old joke " Who's better Oasis or Blur?... Pulp." But it really is understandably. Pulp was truly one of the really great (and sadly, one of the really underrated) Britpop bands out there. And if you don't believe me, listen to "Different Class." This band took Britpop to a whole new level when they dropped this one. [First added to this chart: 06/17/2012]

Sonic Youth's most accessible album of the 90s was also there best. Just two years before this album Sonic Youth made a true masterpiece with "Daydream Nation." Surprisingly, the follow up was just as good. Goo sees the album maintain all the awesome nosiness that was displayed in "Daydream Nation", but without the 4 minute jam sections that can be found in some of the songs on "Daydream Nation," making it they're most attractive and accessible album. While the lack of these jam sections are a questionable omission, Sonic Youth still found a way to make it work. [First added to this chart: 06/17/2012]

I don't care what anybody says, I freaking love this album. Even though it's 17 years old, it's still my favorite album by a solo female artist. So many classic songs on here. Just one crazy ass angry woman screaming her heart out at all the guys who have let her down in the past, coupled with a few songs about her life and religion. Doesn't get much better than this.
