Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 81.7/100, a mean average of 78.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 17.0.

Lots of them! It's just that I'm kind of a perfectionist and I'm selecting album chronologically, starting with the early 50's, so that I won't forget anything! And since I'm too lazy, I put only a few albums a day. Probably the majority of these albums won't still be here after sometime, for I consider the 50's one of the worst decades album-wise. And I'm also relistening to some albums that I forgot or heaven't heard in a while. But If I had to choose, probably something of The Beatles!

If you were to pick one album that wasn't jazz, what would it be?

Thanks for checking out my chart - yeah, the Beatles are mind-boggingly fantastic. Seems as though you love jazz, and so do I. Have you ever listened to Joshua Redman? He's probably my favourite saxophone player. Or Stan Getz? Weather Report? Benni Chawes? Great to see Thelonius Monk in a chart, by the way
