Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 92.3/100, a mean average of 91.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.5/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.3.

Giving a rating to a song or an album is usually a tough task, but definitely not in this case. By far their greatest achievement.
Four years on from my previous comment, and nothing has changed.
Trying to argue that anything is "the greatest ever" is redundant given how subjective music is, but I have absolutely no doubts that this is my favourite record ever. It's been that way for a long time, certainly ever since I first heard it back when I was 14/15. The way I look at music has changed hugely since then, but this remains ever present.
When people have asked me how I can call something my 'favourite ever', it's simple. 'Riders On The Storm' is the most compelling piece of music I've ever heard. It's never worn out, I'm still totally enamoured with its lore and its magical production. A spinetingling tale set in the heat of the Californian desert. Jim Morrison sings with definition and a tone of warning. Here's to many more years of listening.
Gigante!
Quite possibly the Doors greatest ever track. Everything that the band do so well is represented here. Poetic lyrics, a dark, unsettling atmosphere and wonderful performances. It doesn't have the pretensions of, the end(although that's still a brilliant track) and to me, riders on the storm, is the ultimate Doors song and the perfect end for Jim Morrison and the band to finish on. This is the true American prayer. Genius.
I consider this to be one of the best pieces of music of all time.
Great ending to the real career of The Doors. Dark and creepy, especially the "killer on the road" stanza.
This is what I consider the Doors' final song of the Jim Morrison era, and DAMN do they go out with a bang! Really amazing lyrics. One of my favorite album closers of all time.
One of my favourite songs of all time, fantastic piece of music
