Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 87.6/100, a mean average of 86.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.9/100. The standard deviation for this track is 15.0.

Overplayed to death, but so does every major hit.
This hymn will live forever.
I like the intro, the chorus is very catchy.

I regard this as one of the best songs of the 21st century. Viva La Vida has a very majestic sound, achieved through the use of pulsating strings, bells and the well used drums. I want to emphasize the background singing in the bridge and outro of the song. I feel transported to a different time, to which Chris Martin takes us with a wonderful blending of biblical references and allusions to France of the 18th century. And yet the song leaves a lot of room for interpretation. I like to think of Chris Martin comparing the breaking of a relationship to the downfall of a king. If someone means the world to you, it's as if you were the king of the world. But what will become of you if it is taken from you then? In addition, despite its uniqueness, the song is suitable for the masses and a real catchy tune. Chapeau!
Just a god damn undeniable chorus. Great lyrics and layers of captivating and emotionally charged instrumentation. One of my favorite pop songs of the modern era.
Don't hate it because it's on every radio station, love it for what it actually is - a great song.
Probably the only NO1 to feature Church Bells.
A little repetitive and over-the-top, but that's also true for their entire discography. This is probably their best song.

Just like Smells Like Teen Spirit, I used to think of this song as simply overplayed and overrated. But now it finally makes sense to me.
