Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

so epic with its sludgyness
Whether it's premonition of or experiencing a hypothetical oncoming apocalyptic scenario, or an even more intricate complaint about the breaking moral fabric of society and how it will cause universal collapse, or simply a retelling of a stoned stupor and the ensuing fireworks display, "4th of July" is a fascinating work of lyricism and musicality.
The murky riff, the bleak poetry, and Cameron's capable drumming hands all complement each other, but what makes this song is the split vocal harmonization - one, a low and somber muttering of verses; the other, a crazed / disconcerted screaming during the chorus. This occurs during the course of the piece, and to the end; before this, the vocals are singular, like the former, and very haunting, reverbed. To read into this vocal production decision, as to how it's supposed to represent the meaning of the piece, more than being a neat effect, might be presumptuous, however. Instead, I offer the observation that the two are two disparate potential reaction to world's end.
