Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.2/100, a mean average of 91.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.5/100. The standard deviation for this track is 10.6.

Outstanding lyrics delivered with an equally excellent melody and vocal performance. This is the Homogenic record in one track.
a truly devastating track of astonishing beauty, my fav.
Insane
Bjork proves her mastery of story-telling, through Sjon's poetic refinement, with this song's vivid metaphoric imagery that features natural organisms and the flow / movement of water. The underlying meaning is an invariant connection and balance between the narrator and the intended listener, even when not always yielding a comfortable environment ("I'm the path of cinders beneath your feet", etc.). When such a connection is broken, sense of harmony and certainty is disrupted; thus, this is likening their symbiotic relationship to that of the fragile stability in nature.
I love the overall structure of the song and its inherent verses, which match in a parallel structure, a genius technique to give meaning and coherency to the overall piece and theme.
The tone is highly emotional to match the lyrics, and the texture is rich in strings, robust vocals, brooding low-register keys that give the verses further rhythmic integrity, resounding timpani, and signature electronic "trip-hop" sound effects interspersed throughout. The instrumentation and its composition and execution is reminiscent of jazz, big band, symphonic concert music, lounge music, etc., and demonstrate influences from all of these. Hence, a term like "Baroque pop" could conceivably be applied to this track. As well, there is a strange accordion outro that seems quite random, but somehow concludes the piece appropriately. It's a special phonic experience that shouldn't be disregarded.
This song is trip-hop perfection.
