Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Dec18. I enjoyed this. Not a lot really stood out, though strangely, I liked the 7min long 'USA' the best. Good mood music. 3/5
I just felt like It was made with half the love and passion "WORRY." was made. Only 9/10 captures again that magic feeling.
I don't know how this is ranked so highly, I hardly hear anyone talking about this album. Not that I don't like it though, I think it just about matches the energy and punch of worry and we cool.
Best Track: Powerlessness
POST- is a fairly interesting return for Rosenstock that doesn't, in my opinion, live up to the heights of 2016's WORRY. POST- has its highlights, particularly when it trades in the traditional punk conventions for spacey interludes in the middle of tracks ('USA') or moving further into ballad territory (the brilliant 'TV Stars'). The rest is pretty by-the-numbers, sometimes landing and often not. Pretty good - clear moments of inspiration that the whole album doesn't exactly keep together.
Top 3: USA, Yr Throat, TV Stars
Very enjoyable rock record. Political and engaging. An example of how pop punk can be done well. It fails to live up to the level of quality of it's predecessor for me, but it still comes through as a very enjoyable start to the year in 2018.
I didn't expect to like this record going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Great record to kick off 2018 to (I know I'm a couple months late but this is the first album of the year I've listened to).
Favorite tracks: USA, Yr Throat, Powerlessness, 9/10

Having never heard any of his music, I quite enjoyed this. It's a throwback to 90s/early 2000s music to my ears. The production is pretty loud, so there's not a whole lot of dynamics in the songs, but it's fun stuff. The second half is better, and the best songs are TV Stars, and 9/10. A nice album to kick off 2018 to.
I think this will be the year of the underdog album. The last two years promised many great comeback albums from big artists that mostly ended up being disappointments, so I hope 2018 is full of smaller artists making great albums.
Yeah this is how you start with 2018. Enjoyed this a lot and will get to his other albums during this year.
