I used to own this album. Not sure why it disappeared. Decent songs but really didn’t care for it. No big loss. Cool cover art though.
Amazing
Very overblown, but in a way I think works out for the better which makes it more appealing. The title track is a stone-cold rock classic and I really enjoy the late Meat Loaf's vocals on these songs.
No surprise at all that this lead to a musical as you can tell the significant influence musical theatre had on Jim Steinman's writing, with a few moments being very Lord Webber-esque

One of the greatest rock albums ever released. Bat out of hell will always have a special place in my heart. As soon as I hear those opening sounds it manages to transport me straight back to the moment I first heard it and the excitement and joy it produced. A great array of different sounding songs and a celebration of rock music. Whilst I can understand why others have mentioned there being forgettable tracks, 'Heaven can wait' is one of my favorites and I personally feel is one of Steinman's best written and most heartfelt songs on the album.
There does seem to be a slight 'cartoonish' feel to some of the songs, however I feel this adds a lot of character and originality to Meatloaf's vocals.
The only negative I would add is that I feel the order of tracks could have been adjusted slightly.
Following two hugely successful early 70's rock opera's by The Who, it made sense to follow this up with something different, and Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman did it. What a great opening and ending to this album, and my favourite two tracks.

Extremely inconsistent album. Some absolutely amazing songs that sit along with some very forgettable tracks. Bat Out of Hell and Paradise By The Dashboard Light are undeniably the two best, but most of the rest are tracks you listen to once and probably won't purposely put on again.
Every song on the album is incredible.
great lyrics, great voice, great music.
I loved every minute of it.
