Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.4/100, a mean average of 77.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.6.

This album is part of my top 100 you can check out with additional omments.
Neil Young had always been one of my favorite artists, both because of his side as his more electric burst especially with Crazy Horse. "Weld" is the perfect example af the second especially because it's a live rendition of his best tracks and how he sounds live in his best form.
Especially the trio "Love and Only Love", "Rockin'' in the Free World" and "Like a Hurricane" (together about half an hour of the best music you can hear) are the highlight of this magnificent CD.

For years I thought this was actually Neil's best album, but wondered if I was crazy for thinking so. Then I discovered that no less a critic than Mark Prindle also scored it as Young's best work. I probably shouldn't worry about someone else's opinion but I still felt strangely validated. The songs are all long, particularly "Like A Hurricane", but are rendered even stronger by their length. "Cortez The Killer" is the best track for me.

Another fine live set from Neil...he did quite a few of them, so it's nothing unique. But Naples...if "Rockin' In The Free World" grabs you more than songs like "Cortez The Killer" or "Powderfinger"...please listen again!
