Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.9/100, a mean average of 77.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.2.

Vauxhall And I is a more matured and calm Morrissey for the most part delivering some great guitar pop songs. The album also has songs that bring a more mature look to the Smiths sound. The song “Spring-Heeled Jim” comes to mind in particular. Instrumentally it is quite basic but Morrissey makes up for the shortcoming somewhat with some good song writing and vocals throughout.

How this album is not cracking the top 500 is very odd, in a way, it sounds like the final Smiths album.

It's good. Morrissey's fine but these other guys are not a patch on Johnny Marr. The more you ignore me, is the highlight. Good album, but nowhere near the Smiths.

I really didn't expect this album a whole lot. The atmosphere, instrumentation, and Mozza's vocals really sold me to this record. This album made me feel like I was somewhere else all the way through. So many great songs like The More You Ignore Me, Now My Heart Is Full, Speedway, Lazy Sunbathers, and Why Don't You Find Out. Somehow feel like I need to play this album again, particularly the middle section which is perfect to me!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is better than the Queen is Dead. I'll go hide under a rock now.

Morrissey's finest solo LP. Standout tracks - Speedway, Now My Heart Us Full, Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself, Lifeguard Sleeping etc

His best solo album by far, The more You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get is just creepy but brilliant!

One of Morrissey's greatest albums, there really aren't any low points here, pity he sounds so heartbroken/wounded - however it's not surprising considering the maiming he got from the press in 1992.
