Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.4/100, a mean average of 68.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.6.

Tras un caótico primer intento, junto a Phil Spector, en 1973, Lennon consiguió un precioso disco de versiones de clásicos.

A bit overlong but for the first four or five tracks it's a hoot but becomes a bit samey and runs out of steam well before the end. Still, there are some great performances, especially, You can't catch me, which is the standout for me. At the end of the day and e.p probably would have been better but Lennon had to make it an album because of some legal issues stemming from John's use of "Old flatop" on, Come together, which of course is a Chuck Berry lyric. Altogether not bad but too long.

I love John Lennon. I love 50’s Rock n Roll music. However, I’ve never taken to this album. I don’t like Phil Spector’s production techniques. I think the production spoils the songs and the wrong songs were chosen. Except for Stand By Me, which is terrific. A real missed opportunity as Lennon was a fantastic rock n roll singer. Disappointing.

A great revisiting of classic songs. The stand-out being "Stand By Me".

A fun record which some interesting arrangements of classic songs. Although I prefer most of Lennon's other work over this album it's still great to hear him revisiting these old songs.

Some versions are quite good. Stand by me, Slippin' and slidin' and Peggy Sue the best ones IMO.
But with others I don't like the treatment at all (Do you want to dance, Sweet little 16, and specially Bonie Moronie).
The rest is good/average/ok.
As other user said it depends completely on how much you like 50s classic rockandroll and your daymood.

An acceptable album that does its mean purpose.

I was really in the mood for this record. I actually love these songs he chose to cover, and appreciate the higher end mix/recordings... I think I may have listened to this once before and I wasn't in the mood and thinking less of it, but this time through it actually was great. Must have been fun for him to revisit the music that kinda made him who he was.
