A historic album

A masterpiece is an understatement when describing this album. An emotional rollercoaster, and the peak of songwriting. Perhaps the greatest album ever crafted.

Even better than Revolver, for my taste.

This is a tale of two completely different halves with side 1 being more about individuals and side 2 being the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In a result of this we get two fantastic halves of music which are totally brilliant for unique reasons. The flow of the second half is simply phenomenal with each track seamlessly blending into one making this side probably the most cohesive run of music the Beatles ever created which is ironic because of the state the group were in at the time. With the Beatles never breaking stride on this side it is so easy to get completely engrossed in the music and lost in the phenomenal atmosphere they create. I am blown away every time I get to experience the beauty of this side and it deserves all the praise it receives. Now onto side 1 which is in my opinion the weaker half as the quality does go up and down a little bit. Despite this, when the quality is there it is it simply astonishing with songs like Come Together, Something and Oh! Darling quickly establishing themselves as some of the Beatles best work. The song that steals the show for me is the beautiful Here Comes The Sun which is completely timeless and is right up there with my favourite ever Beatles songs. However, the two songs which drag this side and the record down is Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Octopus's Garden. Both are on the sillier side of their music and don't have the same instrumental qualities as the outstanding tracks on here. Neither song are bad but are just decent and when they are surrounded by the colossal songs around them they do stand out as weak. Overall, this is another masterpiece from The Beatles which is thoroughly deserving of the praise it gets as the group once again break boundaries and create something that is a true classic in the history of music.

Although this has some incredible tracks it's let down slightly by octopus garden and Maxwell's hammer , for this reason I'd never buy it on vinyl cos I'd wanna skip those tracks , Its still a brilliant record but for me revolver is better

I wish I had a more original take, but so it goes. Abbey Road is the pinnacle of The Beatles' career. It is their most consistent collection of brilliant songs, all culminating in "the Long One," which remains one of the most satisfying suites in any genre. There's nothing else like it. There are no skippable tracks. Even the goofy "Octopus's Garden" is a fun, appropriately corny Ringo track for the band to end with. There's simply no fat on this thing. It's just a perfect balance of every member at the height of their powers committed to a good ending for their time together.

The Beatles ended with a bang. One of the best albums ever crafted. Very modern, reflecting on the sound, they created themselves only a few years ago.
