Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 12% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.8/100, a mean average of 74.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.5.

This is an album of overwhelming climactic waves of noise juxtaposed with crevasses of calmness. Not their best, but a very good addition to their gold standard catalogue.
A rich and detailed journey with phenomenal experimentation, instrumentation and I think it goes under appreciated in their discography. The songs on here are all so beautifully crafted that each track feels extremely personal due to its delicate performances. One of the best examples of this is the piano work where if you close your eyes on some of the songs, I genuinely feel like I am being personally played to by the group. It is genius how they can do that and make me connect with the music so much. The atmosphere on this record is simply phenomenal as well. It completely engulfs you right from the first track and then is well maintained right up until the conclusion. The record feels very cohesive due to this, and it makes the music feel warm and safe to me. There is loads to explore all across the record also with each song being well layered and dense making relistens a lot of fun for us. I do understand the criticism that the music can be a little slow at times and it may drag for some by track 7 due to the similarities in style on every song. However, I do not find this to be the case for me at all and I think this ambient style suits Sigur Ros brilliantly. Overall, with the quality records this group creates this one can fly under the radar of most listeners, but it is definitely worth checking out as it is so relaxing and is musically fantastic.
The soundscapes here are rather beautiful. Don´t listen to it as a rock alum, Don´t judge it, just let yourself go...dissapear...
Another sound album by this atmospheric band - look forward to really getting to know it in it's finer details

Sigur ros goes ambient.
A lovely ambient bubble bath
More similar to the side-project Jonsi & Alex.
Was a little to slow for me the first time I gave it a listen but as I've gotten older I've found myself coming back again and again. Definitely more ambient and less rock but still a beautiful album none the less.
Visiting your grandparents house; you sit around the fireplace and you look back at your most precious childhood memories through the vintage photo album.
