Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.9/100, a mean average of 70.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.3.

Please, for the love of God Almighty, revisit 'Pay The Man'. It is arguably The Offspings's greatest song. Great Album. God-Tier Song.
Mixed bag. Couple of absolute crackers. But most tracks seem to run with the stock standard Offspring sound. Not their best but not at all their worst. Decent.
A couple of great songs on here which combine pop and punk very effectively to create a fun fusion. This is mainly due to the energy and the catchy choruses which easily get lodged in your head and I end up singing them for days. Most of the better songs are near the beginning of the release such as Staring At The Sun, Have You Ever and the best song on the record which is The Kids Aren't Alright. All of these stick to the style of music they are going for perfectly and are so infectious. You do get a few good tracks near the conclusion but most of them are filler. However, the biggest downfall of this album is that it can be very cringey at times making it hard to take the music seriously. Also, it is very repetitive in its song structure and style. Overall, there is a lot of fun to be had on this album but the quality is questionable.
Much like everyone else, such a big influence on my childhood, some songs are good, with one exceptional song, Kids Aren't Alright.
Catchy pop-punk with zero substance. They became pretentious self-parodies by this time after a solid, gritty album before it in Ixnay on the Hombre. The Smash era kids grew up and this stuff lost its appeal.
The Kids Aren't Alright is one of my favorite Offspring songs... other than that this album has a couple hits that are fun and all but nothing great and then a bunch of mediocre stuff... the best of which were Pay the Man and Americana.
Funny album that I liked A LOT when I was a kid.
Falling I'm Falling, Faaaaalliiiing I'm faaaalllling
Not the most influential, (for me it actually was, this was one of the reasons I picked up a guitar) but IMO the best punk album! And one of the best albums ever made cause of its goofyness!
Very good punk rock/skate punk/pop punk/ska punk album. Best 10 songs average is 88,3/100 and the album can get very good 90/100. Best song is "The kids aren't alright" 95/100, followed by "Pretty fly", "She's got issues" and "Why don't you get a job" all 90/100 and next "Pay the man" 85/100. All other songs in the average region of 75-80/100.
Surprised to see such low rankings. Not the best album ever, but I certainly think this is their best album, frankly.
